Full Description
During a geophysical assessment of ‘St Martins Field’, a green situated north behind New Romney High Street, which was undertaken in 2010 a high resistance feature formed by two walls at right angles to each other, likely represents the foundations of a building. This feature lies over the southern corner of another possible building and is therefore stratigraphically later in date. Very little traceable evidence for the western and southern facing walls can be seen due to widespread ground disturbance at both locations. The existence and possible course of the west and south walls cannot be firmly stated. The feature remains undated but may be associated with the former St Martins Church which is known to have existed in this field. (1)
