Monument record TQ 84 SW 258 - Late Iron Age / early Roman features, Ulcome Road

Summary

An archaeological evaluation was carried out in 2018 and revealed a number of prehistoric and historic features. At the east end of the site, close to Ulcombe Road, a number of late iron age or early Roman features were recovered. Two late Iron Age / early Roman furnace pits were found in the south-east half of trench 36 accompanied by pottery, burnt clay and charcoal. Trench 38 revealed a late Iron Age / early Roman ditch. Trench 45 produced a ditch and terminal. The features were accompanied by a very small pottery assemblage.
