Full Description
An archaeological evaluation carried out in 2018 found the remains of a small building, found in trench 1, that is believed to have been built in the late 18th century and demolished in the early 20th century. The remains were in good condition but could not be convincingly matched to existing historic maps.Walls were made of reddish, yellow bricks and cobbled surfaces were laid down on the natural shingle. Occupation debris was scatted across the site consisting of clay pipe, ceramic material, wood, bone and glass (1). A subsequent watching brief also found evidence of the 18th and 19th century use of the site (2)
