Summary

Iron Age gold coins have been found at unspecified sites and at various times in West Malling with St Leonards Street mentioned in 1873 as one site. A gold quarter stater of Tascoivanus (20 quarter grains) found in 1888 is now in The British Museum. See also TQ 65 NE 23

Full Description

Three IA coins:- 1. Uninscribed gold stater, Evans type B.8, Allen type G.S.E. [Mack No. 27,27a], found at West Malling (a) Present whereabout unknown. 2. Gold stater of Tascoivanus, Evans type V.11, [Mack No. 156] found at Malling in 1887 (b) Present whereabout unknown. (1) 3. Gold quarter stater of Tascoivanus, 20 quarter grains, Evans type V.13, [Mack No. 153], found near West Malling in 1888. Now in BritishMuseum.(2) Fielding refers in passing to British gold coins being found at St. Leonard's Street, Malling. (3) No further information could be obtained regarding the exact provenance of these coins. (For British coins found at St. Leonard's Street, West Malling - see TQ 65 NE 23). (4)
