Full Description

A series of watching briefs carried out at the Marlowe Arcade in 2006 found behind the arcade a masonry wall dated to the 13th/14th century. The wall was believed to the the south-east wall of a structure found in an earlier evaluation. The structure measured 5m in length, 0.8m in width, and was discovered at a depth of 0.48m. The wall was constructed using chalk lumps bonded in a yellow-ish brown sandy mortar. (1)
