Monument record TQ 67 SW 1592 - Corn dryer associated with the site of Early Roman building, Springhead, Northfleet

Summary

Excavation in 2000-2002 revealed a group of features that probably belonged to the same complex which is likely to have originated in the 1st century and continued in use into the mid-Roman period and all of which are likley associated with a timber structure. One of these features included a corn dryer which was represented by a pair of shallow, sub-rectangular pits separated by the T-shaped footings of flint and chalk.
