Monument record TQ 67 SW 1599 - Site of early Roman timber building, Springhead, Northfleet

Summary

A timber building with an early roman date was discovered during excavations at Springhead in 2002-2002. It lay on gently sloping ground towards the base of the slope, at c 11.50 m aOD, immediately to the south of the southern viewing platform. Though parts of the building had eroded sufficient survived of the wall trenches and post-holes to indicate that it was aligned north-south and measured 9.0 m by 5.75 m. (location accurate to the nearest 1m based on available information)
