Monument record TQ 67 SW 1605 - Small mid Roman quarries located close to temple building, Springhead, Northfleet

Summary

Excavation in 2000-2002 found two small gravel quarries . They were dug close to the edge and within the bed of the river, both were approximately 1 m deep. It seems likley that they were dug to extract gravel for use in the mid Roman sanctuary area. (location accurate to the nearest 1m based on available information)
