Excavations in advance of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link in 2002-3 identified a number of Romano-British property boundaries west of the Ebbsfleet. Along the southern side of property 6 part of a wall was uncovered possibly representing a southern boundary wall. The traces of two further walls were located immediately to the north of it, and appear to be contemporary. It is It is possible that this wall may have formed the south wall of a building which lay within property 6. The wall was 0.35 m wide, constructed of chalk and flint bonded with mortar, and survived to a height of approximately 0.3 m. It extended for a distance of at least 4 m, continuing beyond the limit of excavation to the west and truncated by terracing for modern glasshouses to the east. Two wall footings were identified these comprised poorly defined, linear concentrations of flint nodules, the extents of which were unclear. The first was 0.50–0.60 m wide, at least 3 m long, parallel with, and 2 m to the north of the possible boundary wall. Lying between and at right-angles to these was the second footing with a maximum width of 0.50 m. a mortar surface located on the northern side of the footings may represent an associated floor surface.
