Monument record TR 13 NW 285 - Westenhanger Deer Park
Summary
A deer park is known to have existed around Westenhanger Castle from at least the reign of Henry VIII on the basis of documentary records. It was probably c. 536 acres (237 hectares) in size though by the 17th century had reduced to 400 acres. By 1700 the park was 'disparked' but the pale can still be traced archaeologically and by historic landscape features.
