Full Description

Archaeological investigations carried out as part of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link works in 2001 discovered two possible hearths with a likely late Neolithic Date. They were located amongst a group of late Neolithic pits, and one of the hearths was cut by a pit. This hearth comprised a shallow bowl-shaped pit with a possible flue. The other was represented by a sub-rectangular, slightly scorched area and an associated dump of burnt flint. (1)
