Monument record TR 26 NE 1264 - Historic Cycle route, Monkton to Brooksend
Summary
From 1934 to 1940 the government stipulated that major new road schemes must be accompanied by protected cycle routes. The routes were constructed Britain with guidance supplied by the Rijkwaterstaat (the Dutch Ministry for Public Works, Transport and Water Management). One of the first was constructed from the Monkton Roundabout to the St Nicholas at Wade Roundabout and then on to Brooksend.
