Full Description
Captain and 14 men drowned. (1) "Wreck took place at 1am, twelve men and a boy were found alive on floating wreckage carried to Yarmouth, Isle of Wight. Another man was saved, lashed to a hen coop. The captain and pilot were both reported to be drunk. NB there are two spellings quoted for the masters name, Allardice and Holadice. In a letter dated 13-NOV-1793 from John Iggulden, a shipping agent in Deal, wrote to Messrs. Cobb and Co., bankers and agents at Margate, informing them: `Nothing of any consequence has been brought on shore at this place from the ship MADONA.
