Full Description
Tramways are visisble on historic OS maps of the area from the end of the 19th century onwards. These appear to connect the quarrys, cement works and brickworks which were located on both the northern and southern sides of High Street with a wharf on the southern banks of the River Thames. They pass through a tunnel beneath the High Street. (1-2) It is likley that these are mineral trams associated with the cement works. By the time the fouth edition OS map was produced the trmways had been removed. (3) It is not known if any features associated with it still survive today.
