Full Description
During an archaeological evaluation which was carried out by Canterbury Archaeological Trust in 1991 on open ground south and east of the Church of St Peter and St Paul in Swanscombe, chalk and flint foundations were uncovered relating to the former site of the manor house. The excavations revealed that the C18th brick manor house was built on the line of pre-existing foundations (likely medieval in date) in the western portion of the structure. A garden wall, drain and well were also observed, these relate to the C18th structure. (1)
