It was located within a gravel layer, 50-60cm below the gravel surface. This is the same layer which produced flints dating to the Palaeolithic period. the bone was 40cm by 10cm in size and 2.5cm thick. No articular ends were preserved and the bone was not identifiable to a skeletal element or species. Its size and robusticity suggest a large mammal such as an elephant or a rhino. (1)
