Full Description
"Part of the 26th Regiment." (1) On Monday 16-DEC-1805, an alert lookout at the mast head of HM sloop CYGNET, reported to Capt. McLeod that wreckage and floating stores could be seen on the east face of the Goodwin Sands. A boat was lowered and returned with several uniformed soldiers. Since there were no survivors from crew or passengers, the exact location nor cause of loss was ever established. Among the army officers lost were Major Davidson, Captains' Hoggins and Cameron, Ensign Dalyell, Quartermasters Campbell and Robertson, Lieut. Hopkins and Surgeon Deval.
