TQ 696594. A large handmade globular vessel, almost complete was found during building work at Lunsford Lane, Larkfield. Part of the rim and shoulder is missing. The vessel has a rounded shoulder, upright concave neck and slightly everted rim, which in places is slightly thickened. The base is flat enough to allow the vessel to rest firmly. The fabric is gritty, grey ware which has become very pitted on the lower part and base; the shoulder and neck have been burnished. "Perhaps it should be classed with those vessels of [IA] 'A' derivation which occured at Crayford and the Belgic cemetery at Stone,dated by the excavators to the late first century BC/early first century AD and to the early part of the first century AD respectively". The site owner Mr P Lawrence of Barming gave the pot to Maidstone Museum, acc. no. 34/1961. (1) This vessel was uncovered, in 1961, during the construction of a concrete drive into No 332 Lunsford lane, at TQ 69585950. (a) No further finds have been made on the site. (2)
