`Deal 13. All last night it blew a heavy gale from the SW attended with rain, which has continued the whole of this day. The merchant vessels in the Downs rode hard; several lost anchors and cables, and proceeded to Ramsgate, but do not hear of any other damage.

`14th. Last night in a heavy gale several vessels lost anchors and cables.

`The following vessels have put into Ramsgate Harbour with loss of anchors and cables and other damage...

`The NANCY, Bevis, from London to Portsmouth, is on shore to the north of Ramsgate Pier.' (1)

Wind conditions at Deal on the 13th `SW, blows hard', and on the 14th, `SSW, do.'. (1)

The NANCY, Bevans, reported in the arrivals list for Ramsgate on the 16th, `after being on shore near Broadstairs.' (3)
