Full Description

Archaeological excavation in 2011 found the vault of the monastic drain, a burial in a coffin and another grave with no skeletal remains, and a masonry feature that may have been part of a tomb or monument.

The drain (part of Prior Goldstone's drain) ran north-north-east to south-south-west and the valut of mortar-bonded brick was revealed.

A grave containing no skeletal material was found consisting of a Caen stone lining.

A second grave was found showed staining from a coffin and with three coffin nails. The lower legs and feet of the skeleton were present. Both graves are interpreted as being from the monastic cemetery.

A masonry feature was found consisting of two layers of flint and peg tile. It may have formed part of a tomb or memorial. (1)
