Full Description
A fragment of perforated clay plate dating to the lat bronze age was discovered during a geoarchaeological investigation undertaken on land to the south of Ebbsfleet Green, Swanscombe. The plate is made from a characteristically calcined flint tempered fabric and exhibits two perforations of 17.2mm and 15.4mm diameter. These plates are often associated with fire cracked flint and salt working however their exact function remains undetermined. Their distribution is concentrated along the Thames valley from Oxfordshire to north Kent. (1)
