Summary

: Small, single phase MBA ring ditch with an urned cremation burial located just off-centre. 2/3 of an extremely unusual (for Kent) large Trevisker-ware jar of Cornish origin was deposited at the base of the ring ditch; a hexagonal jet bead was recovered from the initial fill. Residue from the Trevisker jar was c14 dated to 1600-1320 cal BC.

Full Description

Small, single phase MBA ring ditch with an urned cremation burial located just off-centre. 2/3 of an extremely unusual (for Kent) large Trevisker-ware jar of Cornish origin was deposited at the base of the ring ditch; a hexagonal jet bead was recovered from the initial fill. Residue from the Trevisker jar was c14 dated to 1600-1320 cal BC. (1)

The cropmark traces of the Bronze Age ring ditch described above was mapped from NMR 1671/46 06-AUG-1979 as part of the Historic England Thanet Landscape Mapping Project 2024. The ring ditch is slightly sub-circular with a diameter of 13m. (2)
