Building record TQ 56 NW 305 - Thomas Wood's Foundry
Summary
Thomas Wood leased land on the corner of Cray Road and Tylers Green road in 1872 to serve as a workshop for his steam engine business. The set of buildings constructed - 'The Foundry' - still contain the company's workshops and include many irreplaceable lathes and other machines related to steam engine maintenance. The site is believed to be on the site of a medieval tile manufacturing oast.
