Building record TR 06 SW 1512 - Saltpetre Store, Marsh Gunpowder Works

Building with a barrel-vaulted corrugated iron roof, used as a saltpetre store for Marsh Gunpowder Works. The date of construction is unclear, but it was in existence by 1937 at the latest. (1)

Saltpetre store at the Marsh Gunpowder Works, constructed by 1920 and shown on a plan of the works by Nobel Explosives Co. Ltd. in 1920 as building 45. A survey as part of the RCHME Faversham's Explosives Industry Project in 1991 found the building to be extant (Building 15 - RCHME ground photography negative reference 164/K/34-35). It was of a single storey and measured 21.5 metres by 13 metres, with a barrel vaulted corrugated iron roof, brick side walls and weatherboarded end walls. It was not viewed internally. (1-2)
