Full Description
The Home for Ophans (the Home for Little Boys), Hextable opened 1875 by the same body that ran the Farningham Home, originally established in premises in Edgware. The Hextable home was advertised as catering for “fatherless boys of domestic servants and others in like circumstance” becoming “ the fatherless and motherless boys of respectable parents, who have not received parish relief”, with a £20 payment a year for boys under 12. Now Furness School.
Visible on the OS 1st edtion (1897-1900), 2nd ed. (1907-1923), 3rd ed. (1929-1952), some of the original buildings appear to be extant.
