Monument record TR 35 SW 18 - An Anglo-Saxon cemetery, Northbourne Road, East Studdal, Dover
Summary
An Anglo-Saxon cemetery of 7 graves was found in 1977, it was identified by crop marks. Over an area, 9m across, four penannular ditches (one enclosing 2 graves) were visible to the south ofNorthbourne Road. The 'causeways' of the enclosures pointed down the hill. Other graves, without ditches, were visible further down the slope.
The site lies midway down a north-east facing slope of Downland spur, of chalk bedrock. OD 55-60m.
