Full Description

`Ramsgate, 6th Oct. Last night in a violent gale of wind at SSW, the CHARLES KERR, Lodwick, from Grenada to London, parted her anchors in the Downs, and put in here, and got damage by striking against the cross wall; her cargo is landed, but the vessel is a wreck.' (1)

`...struck the cross wall after running for the entrance after parting from her anchor cables in a SSW gale. Struck so hard she broke up in rough seas. Her cargo was taken out but the vessel went to pieces and is now a total wreck.' (2)
