(1)
Early/mid 18th century mill. Documentary evidence suggests it has been a corn mill since at least the mid-19th century and it is uncertain if this specific building ever had an iron-working function (though stonework in the south wall of the mill and in the wheel pit may indicate an earlier structure). Although little of the mill's machinery survives, its function is revealed by the survival of two of the millstones, the timber hurst which supported them, the hatch and wheel for the sack hoist and the wheel pit. Nearby earthworks related to the mill’s water supply, and remnants of the brick walls of the head race, provide evidence for how the mill was used. (2)
