Full Description
Surface-finds of at least two Palaeolithic handaxes from below Hawkinge, at the head of the Alkham valley north of Crete Road West, found between c. 2000 and 2015, as reported by Keene (1) and Burrows (2). The handaxes are small and bluntly-pointed, and white-patinated; they have probably slipped downslope from the Clay-with-flints plateau to the north and northwest.
