Monument record TR 34 NE 60 - Early Medival / Anglo Saxon burial, St Monica's Road, Kingsdown
Summary
A grave containing one skeleton and accompaying grave goods, sword, seax, shield, spear and knife, was found in the 1960's, during digging a cesspit in the garden of a house ('Ty Rhos'), in St. Monicas's Road. Only the spearhead was recovered, now lost. The bones were reburied in the garden.
The site lies on the north facing brow of a chalk spur, overlooking the sea. OD about 30m.
