Full Description
A fire pit with a flue exposed at the southern end was uncovered during an archaeological evaluation carried out at the former site of Southlands School, New Romney, Kent. Near the flue were a number of unforgged orange and yellow bricks set on end into a clay base. The pit was filled with a dark sand which contained medival pottery. Part of the backfill was sampled but the bricks were covered and left in situ. The feature was sealed by a garden soil. (1) (Information summarised from source)
