The partial remains of a minimum of ten structures were revealed in section during a watching brief which was carried out ahead of the redevelopment of a site at the junction of Spitalfield Lane and Sussex Road in New Romney, Kent. Structure 'A' appeared to belong to the earliest phase of construction at the site. It was probably rectangular in plan measuring at least 8.5m (though probably 10-11m) NE/SW and 5.5m NW/SE. it was set at right angles to Spitalfield Lane and located at the northern end of the site, over House plot B (Now Rosewood) . The structural elements revealed comprised a clay floor, two hearths and four post/stakeholes (information summarised from source) (1)
