Monument record TR 02 SE 264 - Medieval and post medieval road metallings of Spitalfield Lane, New Romney

Summary

A long trench was excavated across Spitalfield Lane in 2005 during works associated with the redevelopment of the Sussex Road Garage Site. Within this a series of metalled surfaces and soil dumps were revealed, the earliest of which appears to date to around 1150-1225/50. These likely relate to the former road surfaces of Spitalfield Lane. (location accurate to the nearest 1m based on available information)
