Summary

A Jewish cemetery was constructed to the rear of Chatham Memorial Synagogue during the early 1780s. It is the only Jewish cemetery in Britain that is attached to a synagogue like a churchyard. The site is on a higher level than the synagogue with a separating steep bank and a high wall to the sides and rear. The site contains many Matzevah monuments.
