Full Description

A 40m length of wicker fence is visible on a 2008 aerial photograph and was revealed by erosion in 2023. The fence lies in close proximity to Roman pottery, and in an area of Roman sites, and so has been interpeted as Roman in date. The discoverer noted "The saltmarsh here seals the Roman horizon – and the fence (at least 40m in length) shown in the attached document appears to be emerging from beneath the marsh and is probably Roman. Ceramics found nearby would suggest a date of approx. AD40-160." (1)
