This evaluation was carried out by Canterbury Archaeological Trust in October 2021 in advance of an extension development to No. 17 Stour Street, Canterbury. The archaeological features uncovered include medieval walls and floor surface deposit, these features were cut by later post-medieval refuse pits.

The medieval remains were located 0.8-1m below the ground surface. The wall remains comprised a wall aligned NW-SE, and demonstrated evidence for at least one phase of clay floor to the NW. The building remains are thought to represent a 14th-15th century extension to a structure fronting onto Stour Street. Finds from the medieval deposits/features included pottery, marine shell, charcoal and CBM. Also contained in the fill of one of the medieval layers was some Roman pottery - however, this has been interpreted as a residual deposit. The clay floor located in the second trench "confirms previous evidence that the properties extended up to the river perhaps to include small scale cottage industries (from the original report (1))."
