Full Description

Possible post-medieval quarry on land adjacent to 11 Woodland Way, Blean, Canterbury, excavated during an archaeological evaluation of the site prior to the development of a two storey building. The possible quarry feature measured 0.60m in width and 0.32m in depth, it was located at least 0.10m below the ground surface. The feature had a U-shaped cut. Historical mapping does not show any evidence for a quarry in this area. Pieces of glass and coal were excavated from the fill of the feature - however, as these are undated they may represent residual deposits. (1)
