Full Description
Possible Roman burials were uncovered during a watching brief at the rear of 50 London Road. No skeletal remains were excavated. 2 features were identified containing possible hobnails and coffin nails alongside an almost complete Roman vessel, suggesting that this may represent a funerary artefact/grave good. If the two features do represent burials, the current western boundary of the St Dunstan's Roman burial ground will be revised and extended (this information was included in background material for an archaeological evaluation of a nearby property, (1)).
