Full Description
Possible Palaeolithic flints were excavated in 2021 at Cockering Farm, Canterbury. The flints were associated with Pleistocene gravels and appear to be flakes from knapping waste. The flints are described as having transported by natural processes and redeposited, however, some of the artefacts may not have travelled far from their primary contexts.
It is suggested that the flint artefacts may be the first to be documented from "clear sedimentary contexts from this altitude to the immediate south of Canterbury" (from the original report, 1).
