Full Description
Roman pottery and tile were excavated on land off Farleigh Road, Canterbury, during an evaluation in 2004. One tile fragment bearing the impression of a finger and three sherds of Roman pottery (originating from the same vessel) were excavated. The pottery sherds are thought to be residual artefacts within post-medieval quarry pits (TR 15 NE 2025), however, it is likely that they were originally deposited in the vicinity of the quarry and may be indicative of Roman occupation in the vicinity. A Roman tile kiln and pottery kiln have previously been excavated in the vicinity of the site. (1)
