Full Description
A modern quarry pit was excavated at 95-103 Sturry Road, Canterbury during an investigation in 2006.
The pit was rectangular/rectilinear in form and measured 1.75m in width. Its length and depth is unknown as the feature extended beyond the limits of the evaluation trench. Brickearth and silty clay formed the fill of the feature. It has been interpreted as a machine cut/instruction associated with clay extraction during the modern period. Modern quarrying is known to have occurred at the northern and western boundaries of the site. (1)
