Full Description
Second World War ammunition in the form of 150 .22 calibre rifle shells was excavated at 95-103 Sturry Road, Canterbury during an investigation in 2006. The ammunition was located within a late post-medieval - modern pit associated with allotment gardens/horticultural nurseries. The rifle shells are thought to have been deposited towards the end of the Second World War during the period when the area was used by the local Home Guard detachment. (1)
