A group of burials from the 1666 St James day battle are recorded as being located here, though their precise location is not known. The St James' Day Battle took place on 25 July 1666 , during the Second Anglo-Dutch War. It was fought between an English fleet, and a Dutch force. The information is recorded on a panel board at the site but the original source is not known, no further informtion is available.
