Full Description

`The SALT RIVER, Kennedy, from Jamaica, went on shore on Sunday morning near Sandown castle in the Downs and bulged; it is hoped the greatest part of her cargo will be saved.' (2)

This vessel had received damage in a storm two weeks previously:

`Bristol 2nd. This day arrived the TOBAGO PLANTER, Stevens; sailed with the fleet from Jamaica, and gives the following account, that on the 16th ult., lat. 43N lon. 48, they met with a heavy gale, and next day...saw the SALT RIVER, with her mizzen mast gone, and sails flying to pieces.' (3)
