`Extract of a letter from Ramsgate, 6th March: I am sorry to acquaint you that the tempestuous weather of yesterday and today has occasioned two unfortunate accidents: a sloop called the ENDEAVOUR, Capt. Souter, from Ipswich to Southampton, struck on a rock near this port; the crew unfortunately took to their boat, to the number of five, including the captain, and all perished.' (1)
