`On Friday last the DE STADT GOES, Capt. Bougge, from Ostend for Malaga, ran on shore near Walmer Castle, the master and crew are saved, and most of the ship's materials.' (1)

Wind conditions at Deal given as N on the 17th in the same issue of LL. (1)

An advertisement for the auction of cargo and fittings on 13-FEB-1772 states that the vessel was `carrying 8000 yards of linen.' (2)
