Full Description

`The JUANA MARIA, Ruyter, from Alicante for London, lying at anchor off Gravesend, was run down and sunk by the HECTOR Indiaman outward bound, who has also received much damage.' (1)

Source (2) expresses the nationality of the vessel as Spanish, the master's name, however, being Dutch. The details of this vessel may have been confused with those of a vessel reported in the same issue of LL. as arrived on the 10th January at Gravesend from Onega, the JUFRO MARIA, Righter.
