Full Description
The first of two lighters lost in this incident.
`Sheerness, March 2nd: Since 6 o'clock this morning we have had a most tremendous gale from N to NNW, which has done great damage to shipping...Two lighters belonging to the dockyard sunk; a man, woman, and two children lost, the rest of the crews saved.' (1)
NB: It is not known to which of the vessels those lost belonged.
