Full Description
The Odeon cinema opened in 1937 and was designed by FC Mitchell. However it is probable that the cinema was originally designed in 1934 for A E Abrahams. In 1967 it was taken over by Classic and renamed The Vogue but it closed a year later to become a bingo hall. A cinema was created in the former restaurant in 1971 and was named The Classic. Afterwards a second screen was added in the circle and the cinemas were renamed Cannon 1 and 2. A further takeover of the cinemas took place in 1997 by Picturedrome and again in 2000 by Reeltime (1-2)
