Full Description
A possible Upper Palaeolithic Nosed Scraper was excavated at Willows Farm, Canterbury during an evaluation in 2020. The scraper weighed 49 grams and has been suggested to date from 40,000 BC. The report describes the artefact as "having a distinct convex scraping edge exhibiting retouch on the convex edges…(the) flint has olive-green cortex with an underlying orange band attributable to flint from the Bullhead Beds" (from the original report, 1). The artefact was recovered as residual material from a ditch feature excavated at the site. (1)
